Road Safety Campaign by MITA Travel Fair 2017

Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association (MITA) holding a road safety awareness campaign supported by SMART Tunnel on 24TH January 2017 5pm. This road safety campaign aimed encouraging people with slogan “MITA Travel Fair Wishes Safe Journey Home'' and make our streets safer, more pleasant places. We know that Chinese New Years is around the corner, during the festival session there are many people are involved in road accidents when they are on the way back to hometown, some are killed and many more are injured. Vehicle accidents are a very big cause of death in our society, and where the government is often called upon to improve road safety. According to the Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said that there were almost half a million accidents on Malaysian roads in 2015, with close to 7,000 people killed were reported.

As the roads are very busy nowadays, we should be very careful when crossing one. Using a car can be dangerous too. We must pay attention to the road and never drive too fast. We must obey all traffic rules. Also, we must make sure our car is in good condition with working brakes, lights etc. These are some things we can do to avoid accidents. However, there is no guarantee that we will never be involved in one. The important thing is to stay alert always while using the roads. We must know what is happening around us. In that way, we can take necessary action to avoid danger whenever we see one. Road safety is very much up to how we use the roads. Use them carefully and we may be able to use them for a long time. Use them carelessly and we may never be able to use them again.

The results of road safety campaigns depend however, first, on the manner of communication to road users. Since the target of the campaigns are people or groups of people, and as the characteristics of their behavior is different from one state to another. The most effective solutions to road safety related problems integrate the driver, the vehicle, the road and environmental considerations. Improvements in road safety can best be achieved through consultation and cooperation with specific levels of government, industry and the public. All users of the transportation system must share responsibility for safety. Recently, road accidents have increased drastically and should be really considered a major health hazard of today.

During the campaign, we distribute of 100 pieces goodies bags and car stickers to people who are pass by the tol station as reminder to all the driver about “MITA Travel Fair Wishes Safe Journey Home'' and also inviting the President of MITA Travel Fair - Mr Uzaidi Udanis and Organizing Chairman of MITA Travel Fair 2017 - Mr Adam Kamal Ahmad Kamil to launch this campaign.
